YLT Class 5 Creative Communities Day

Kathryn Cashin (LT 18) and Angela Morrison Uhland (LT 19) organized the first ever joint YLT/LT program day focusing on creative communities. From understanding generational differences and working together on goal setting activities, this "first" was a real success. The members of LT Class 26 were paired up with the members of YLT Class 5 during activities designed to help the members of both classes learn more about this wonderfully creative community that we enjoy here in Tallahassee. The classes experienced the excitement of learning new things through some creative experiences with arts such as opera, acting techniques and stage fighting, the art of bookmaking, creative movement and Balinese Gamelan. (Did I say Balinese Gamelan? Oh, you don't know what that is? Well it refers to a musical ensemble of Indonesia, and typically featuring a variety of instruments such as metallophones, xylophones, drums, and gongs; bamboo flutes, bowed and plucked strings, and vocalists may also be included. At least that's what Wikipedia says. LT 26 and YLT 5 would describe it as fun, exciting and totally amazing!) The classes pulled together an impromptu talent show, with vocalists, a juggler, a pianist, and a show stopping ventriloquist act. Comments from the classes were positively glowing:
