How To Apply
Selection Criteria
YLT seeks applicants who are:
- In the 10th grade during the entire application process and who will participate in YLT as high school juniors (11th grade);
- Residents of the Tallahassee area;
- Interested in networking with other local high school teens; and
- Willing to commit the time and energy necessary to complete the program.
YLT seeks applicants who have:
- A minimum of 2.5 G.P.A., unweighted;
- Written consent of their parent/guardian(s); and
- Been identified as having leadership potential.
General Information
Attendance is MANDATORY at ALL of the following events: Orientation, Opening Retreat, all six program days; and Graduation. Missing one of these events is grounds for expulsion from YLT. You must attend, be on time and participate fully.
It is free to apply to YLT. You must type your application and turn it in by February 20th to be considered for selection into YLT for the next program year. You may be interviewed as part of the selection process.
If selected, each participant must pay a $100 fee. Payment plans and a limited number of scholarships are available for this participation fee. The actual cost of the program is approximately $1,500 per student, which is funded through the support of Leadership Tallahassee, a program of the Greater Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce, and our generous sponsors.
